Wofford St- July 7th - February 2026
July 1, 2025- A contractor working on behalf of the City of Burnet will begin installing a new 16" waterline main on Wofford Street starting Monday, July 7, 2025. This project will be completed by Atlas Construction and is expected to take approximately 7 months. Please see attachment below for Wofford St Road Closure for map.
- Work will take place Monday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- One-way traffic control will be in place during construction
- Except for the active construction zone, most of Wofford St will remain open to traffic
- No street parking will be allowed on Wofford—vehicles must be removed the night before and cannot return until the project is completed
For your safety and ours, please do not approach crews while they are working. Be sure to follow all posted traffic signs and obey directions from flaggers. Drive slowly and carefully through the area.
All Wofford Street residents should have received a flyer with these details.

Wood St & Northington St: July 16 - September
Update August 1, 2025
Below is another update to Wood Street reconstruction project. In order to make good on time and open some of the road by the time school starts, the paving of North Wood will be done at once, in two days; and some work on Saturday and Sunday may occur. More details below.
Current Work:
- Curb and driveway work from Brier to SH-963 is complete. Road in this section is near ready to pave.
- Minor curb and tie-in tasks are still in progress.
- Curbs on Wood Street near SH-29 and on East Brier are expected to be finished by Friday.
- To stay on track for paving, the contractor will be working this Saturday and Sunday to wrap up driveway installation and prepare the road.
- Northington has received one layer of gravel base, and driveways are accessible after hours.
Next Week:
- Crews will fill behind the new curbs with topsoil and begin grading and compacting driveway approaches.
- If time allows and conditions permit, curb work may begin on the eastern portion of Northington Drive.
- Paving on North Wood is scheduled for Thursday, August 7th & 8th:
- SH-29 to Kerr Street will be paved the first day.
- Kerr Street to SH-963 will be completed on Friday.
- Schedule is dependent on weather and logistics.
Following Week (August 11–15):
- Focus shifts to the eastern half of Northington Drive. Curbs and some driveways will be installed midweek.
- Paving on Northington is scheduled for Friday, August 23rd.
- Wallace Riddell’s parking lot and the full length of the roadway will be closed during paving.
June 4, 2025- Beginning Thursday, June 12, road construction will begin on Wood Street and Northington Street to improve drainage, add curb and gutter, and provide new pavement. The project is expected to be completed by September 3 and will be carried out in phases. Each affected resident should have received a door hanger notice with specific details about the construction timeline for their area. Please see attachment below for Wood St & Northington St Road Closure for maps.
DETOUR & PARKING NOTICE:
• Street parking will not be allowed on the affected streets during construction.
• Residents will need to park on adjacent side streets during construction phases.
• Detour signs will be posted to help guide residents around the work zones.
• Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.

Phase 2: Wood St. (Brier St. to Kerr St.)- June 12 – July 12
Phase 3: Wood St. (SH-29 to Brier St.)- July 14 – August 15
Phase 5: Northington St. (Rhomberg to Wallace Riddell Parking Lot)- July 14 – August 15
Phase 6: Northington St. (Hill St. to Wallace Riddell Parking Lot)- August 16 – September 3
Phase 7: Wood St. (Kerr St. to Dougherty Creek)- July 14 – August 15 (Open to traffic but under construction)

Houston Clinton Drive Closure: March 27 - May
UPDATE 7.25.2025
The project is near completion. The last portions of the sidewalk are being installed this week into early next week. Next week, the project final clean up and some directional signs are being installed. The following weeks the contractor will install grass seeding and attempt to establish grass, which will conclude the project.
Original Post March 14, 2025- The first portion of Houston Clinton at SH-281 will be closed for demolition. This closure will require traffic to be rerouted through Cary Johnson Parkway. Please see attachment below for Houston Clinton Road Closure for more information.
