Fire & EMS

The Burnet Fire Department, located at 2002 South Water Street, is a career municipal department, comprised of 27 full-time and 12 paid part-time personnel.  Serving in dual roles as both fire fighters and emergency medical technicians, the men and women of Burnet Fire Department are responsible for providing both fire suppression and emergency medical services.  The primary fire response area covers the incorporated city limits of Burnet, Texas and as mutual aid to Burnet Volunteer Fire Department in 345 square miles of north central Burnet County.  Additionally, a total of 750 square miles is covered for emergency medical response.  Approximately 600 fire calls and 4,500 medical calls are answered annually with a 7% - 10% increase per year. 

Emergency response is a coordinated effort of the Burnet Fire Department and the Office of Emergency Management.  Additional resources are available through county, regional and state mutual aid agreements and the department works in conjunction with all of the volunteer fire departments located throughout Burnet County. 

Fire prevention activities are coordinated by the Fire Marshal's office and disaster preparedness and response through the Office of Emergency Management. It is through these efforts that the people of Burnet and the surrounding communities are provided rapid response to control a wide range of emergency situations.
