Solid Waste Services Change - Thu, 09/22/2016 |
The provider for solid waste and recycling services will change from Progressive to ACDI (Al Clawson Disposal, Inc.) effective November 1, 2016. The most obvious change that customers will notice is that the garbage carts will now be blue and the recycling carts will be green. |

Impact and Building Fees Waived - Thu, 09/22/2016 |
The Burnet City Council has approved extending certain building permit fee waivers through December 31, 2016. The waivers were slated to expire September 30, 2016. In other related action, Council approved waiving building permit fees, standard tap fees, standard sewer tap fees and standard electrical connection fees for new single family and multi-family zoned as R-2 and R-2A (duplexes) located in the designated Neighborhood Empowerment Zones. No expiration date has been set for these waivers. |

City Streets Protected from Heavy Truck Traffic - Thu, 07/14/2016 |
The Burnet City Council recently authorized protecting certain city roadways from heavy truck traffic. North Hill Street between Highway 29 and FM 963 and Pecan and Coke Streets between Highway 281 and Highway 29 have been named as the protected streets. According to the ordinance, heavy truck means “any motor vehicle designed, used or maintained primarily for the transportation of property, including truck tractors, road tractors, trailers, semi-trailers, pole trailers, and special mobile equipment." |

City Well Water System Activated - Fri, 06/03/2016 |
The City has activated it's City Well Water System for portions of the City. Customers may notice a difference in their water during this time, as well water has a higher concentration of calcium than surface water which may be noticeable when brewing coffee, washing dishes, and during other water uses. Hand drying dishware may help with spotting. |

Consumer Alert - Fire Extinguishers - Thu, 05/12/2016 |
The Burnet Fire Marshal’s Office has been made aware that a Central Texas based company is visiting local businesses asking to inspect and offering to sell fire extinguishers. Some business owners are under the impression that this individual is representing the local or state fire marshal’s office. |

Utility Bill Scam - Fri, 04/01/2016 |
Burnet citizens have reported receiving telephone calls, claiming to be from the City of Burnet, telling them that they are past due on their utility bills and that unless they provide private banking information to “pay” the utility bill that their utilities will be terminated. The caller is very aggressive and insists that they must make a payment immediately. In at least one case, the citizen has received a letter in the mail which appears to be from the City of Burnet warning them of a pending cut-off. |

Important Announcements now on Facebook and Twitter - Mon, 02/01/2016 |
The City now offers citizens the opportunity to be the first to receive important announcements when they occur through Facebook and Twitter. These announcements will include such things as boil water notices, police and fire notices, power outage notices and other City related notices. It will not be used for advertising. Citizens can login to their own Facebook account and search for "City of Burnet". Find City of Burnet on Twitter and "follow" us to receive automatic announcements to your computer or cell phone.
